Red Sorghum Novel by Mo Yan

Red Sorghum (originally Honggaoliang jiazu, 1987) is the breakthrough novel by Nobel laureate Mo Yan. Set in his birthplace of Gaomi, Shandong, it is a non-linear family saga that uses “hallucinatory realism” to chronicle three generations from the 1920s through the 1970s.
